“Yellow gloves? Black bags?” I stated.

“That's right. You heard me right. Stop all of your daydreaming, and stop repeating everything I say. But most of all, don't you move. Stay right there on the street and listen to me.” Angel said, keeping her hands out of view.

“What else?” I asked.

“One of the investigators carried something that looked like an urn.”

“What?”

“An investigator handled an object that looked like an urn.” Angel repeated her voice a bit softer than it had been. “I sat in my porch swing and watched them as best I could. That privacy fence of hers, this fickle weather, not to mention, I had to sit out here for a long time because some law enforcement officers who worked there stayed 'til dusk. All of those conditions made it challenging. But I saw enough.

I saw the way they carried on over there on that lot. Their work was more entertaining than watching criminal investigation shows on television. All of those law enforcement officers, some dressed in modern day clothes, futuristic. Some even dressed in clothes resembling space suits. All of them carrying on over there with their fancy dogs, high tech cameras, equipment, and police vehicles. I was entertained for a long while right here sitting in my swing. Sentiment and I devoured several bags of potato chips and lots of iced tea as we watched them act like they were filming a movie with a setting in the next century.”

“Urn?” My mind remained there.

“Yes, an urn – a U. R. N.” Angel spelled. “You just insist on repeating me.”

“Ashes left in a house that had been burned a bit on the inside before it was demolished.” I said. Then without thinking, I walked a bit closer toward Angel. Stepped onto her lush St Augustine grass.

“I've warned you!” Angel shouted. “Don't come any closer.” Angel leaned outward. One of her hands was in view. She held it in a fist. “I refuse to leave this world by someone killing me. I have lived through some tough times. Been sick a lot. If that didn't kill me, no human will. I know something. And that is no one is going to take my life. I am old. No match for a young fellow like you. But this is.”

I had no idea. The next move Angel made shocked me. She released her fist and moved her hand behind the door, out of my sight again. When I saw her hand seconds later, it held a gun. She fired a shot outward and upward.

“Take another step, and I'll shoot you. I promise you. I will shoot you. After everything you did to that poor, young woman, the court will be lenient on me. I’m old and fragile.” Angel lowered the weapon. This time aiming it directly toward me. “Stay back. I'll shoot now. I'll shoot you right now – willing to answer the police's questions later. Take another step, and it might become your last.”

I supposed I could have used the gun in my pocket.
